Late to the thread, but...

I'll give a third thumbs up to the Mermen.
GREAT band--I've seen them a number of times over the last 12 years or so. Just fantastic.

I'm listening to Albatross from that 4/20/07--WOW!--thanks for the link. Jim Thomas does the great Peter Green proud.

Also--Steve Brown's recordings are top shelf. Usually on-stage mikes--audience recordings that sound like boards.

a question for you Sactown:

since i know nothing about Mermen - do they have lyrics?? only reason i ask is the onstage mics generally don't pick up vocals very well at all, but are phenomenal with the instruments.

just curious since if i am going to check out the band, i'll take your suggestion and look for that guy's OS recordings

thanks

no apology necessary at all!!! that is exactly what i needed to know :)

i am definitely going to give them a listen - especially since they have on-stage recordings here (love those recordings from Kimock and Garaj Mahal)

thanks mickmac!

Dire--
I've been away from my desk and just now got your post--as Mick says, no vocals, just unbelievable instrumental jams. Check 'em out--the sooner the better!
